Brisbane Catholic Education plans to open a new Prep to Year 12 college in Bli Bli, to cater for the rapid population growth of the Sunshine Coast over the past five years.
Good Samaritan Catholic College will be built on 11.56 hectares in Parklakes 2, a naturally stunning, master planned community in Bli Bli.
The new college reflects the expected population growth on the Sunshine Coast, with parts of the college’s catchment increasing by 15 per cent over the past five years.
Students are expected to reside in areas such as Bli Bli, Coolum Beach, Marcoola, Mudjimba, Maroochydore, Kuluin, Diddillibah, Rosemount, Eumundi and the eastern fringe of Nambour.
Eventually catering for more than 1500 students, the college is planned to open in 2019 with Prep to Year 3 and Year 7 students. The first Year 7 students will graduate from Year 12 in 2024 and the first original Prep students in 2031.
Recognising that our world will be a very different place for 2031 graduates in which collaboration is at the fore, all building stages will feature flexible, inter-connected spaces for either small or large groups, or one-on-one learning, plus large, modern sporting facilities. Future considerations for the site also include Long Day Care, a Kindergarten and Outside School Hours Care.
Families may register their expression of interest now at the website www.goodsamaritan.qld.edu.au and information sessions will be held for prospective families in the coming months.
