Pure Tennis Academy’s Junior Tennis Programs teach essential motor skills, which include AGILITY, BALANCE AND CO-ORDINATION. We provide a range of tennis based activities and fun games, that all help to develop these skills, whilst teaching your child the fundamental aspects of tennis.
Tiny Tennis is perfect for young children new to tennis. The play-based program involves a parent/ caregiver in the sessions, which focus on skill development through a fun and engaging program of games, drills and team activities. Excellent for early development of gross motor skills and hand eye co-ordination.
The red ball is larger than a yellow ball and doesn’t bounce as high, making it easier for beginners to hit it comfortably. By learning the basics on the red 1⁄4 court, children will master new skills and learn how to move around the court. The small racquets allow consistent contact with the red ball assisting with the development of proper technique.
After mastering the red stage, your child can progress to the orange stage. Children now learn on a 3⁄4 court and the ball bounces a little higher. During this stage, children are able to develop a complete technical repertoire. The length of the court forces the attacking player to be accurate and use spin. It allows players to approach the net and develop their net game.
In Green Stage, your child will play on a full size tennis court and will start to implement the basic skills of tennis. Even advanced players face a difficult time on the larger court. Playing forward, coming to the net, using the serve as a weapon - it all becomes a lot more difficult. Emphasis is on advanced court positioning, taking the ball on the rise and putting enough weight transfer into hots. From the green stage, children will move on to play on a full sized court with a regular yellow ball.
