Ascot State School recently held their first ‘Colour Run’. The school oval was a blaze of colour as students completed an obstacle course and ran laps of the oval.
“Healthy choices and exercise is what we wish to encourage within our Primary School” said School Principal, Gayle Coleman.
The Colour Run is a unique fundraiser where children are sponsored to participate in the event. The students are dusted in water and colourful cornstarch powder as they run.
“Families and students really got behind this initiative and the school raised over $53,000,” said Ms Coleman.
Over 92% of students participated and a great time was had by all. The students especially liked the water and oranges, as refreshments after the race.
“Our school is fundraising for air-conditioning within classrooms, providing iPads and Laptops, playground equipment, tuckshop resources, and a host of other school projects,” said Ms Coleman.
“It was also a great community day where families stayed to enjoy a sausage sizzle after the event,” said Ms Coleman.
