New Educaring™ program for Woombye childcare centre

Little Characters Early Learning Centre, a popular Woombye childcare centre, is set to introduce the Educaring™ Approach to its nursery in 2018.

Inspired by Magda Gerber’s RIE® (Resources for Infant Educarers), the philosophy follows the principle that a baby is an active participant in their world as the initiator and explorer in their learning.

Kerry Hanson, who oversees the program at Little Characters explained, “At Little Characters your baby will eat, sleep and play in accordance with their individual needs. By anticipating individual care-giving activities, we can be respectful of personal rhythms with feedings, nap times and activities to suit your baby.”

With this philosophy, care-giving is an opportunity for one-on-one time.

“The Educarer talks with, ‘listens’ to and allows time for your baby to respond,” said Kerry. “Your baby is an active participant in these moments of social interchange. He or she is learning cooperation and language development.”

When care-giving needs have been met, children engage in play and the Educarer’s attention facilitates optimum development of motor skills, problem solving, and self-esteem.

Also new to the centre in 2018 is the Government Approved Kindergarten.

Little Characters Early Learning Centre is a small 47-place centre in Woombye offering care from six weeks through to school age, including a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten program.
