Head to the Wetlands and learn the wilderness awareness skill of Sit Spot – a practice of being in place and deeply observing the natural world. You’ll be surprised at how many wonderful things are happening around you, when you make the time to notice!
At the Wetlands Sanctuary there are birds and bees above in the canopy above, and below you will also notice the busy world of mangroves – whose roots do an incredible amount of work!
Participants will then have a go at illustrating the mangrove trees above and below the ground, imagining and drawing the roots underneath. The world of Pneumatophores (that’s the roots poking upwards out of the mud), the crab burrows and creatures in an ecosystem bustling with life below the waterline.
Suitable for children aged 7+ years.
