Discover Ipswich’s fascinating history at Galvanized – A Festival of Heritage.
From 29 August to 8 September 2024, families can explore various events and experiences across the City of Ipswich and immerse themselves in the rich stories that make Ipswich unique.
A highlight of this year’s festival is the Indigenous Wild Foods and Cultural Festival. Mark the calendar for Saturday 31 August to enjoy this free, jam-packed day with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, food and cooking demonstrations, workshops, traditional cultural performances, rides and fireworks.
With Father’s Day falling on the first Sunday of Galvanized, there’s also opportunity to spoil dad with Steam & Smoke BBQ while creating treasured memories with vintage vehicles, entertainment, delicious BBQ foods or a steam train ride.
Eager to learn dances of yesteryear? Be transported to an age where dance music was full of glorious melodies at The Limestone Frolic. Costumes are encouraged, but not required, as you watch and learn a variety of dances.
For a memorable family day out, learn the fascinating history of camels in Australia at Summer Land Camels, Australia’s largest camel farm and dairy. While at the farm, you can also feed the camels, enjoy a meal at the café and even ride a camel.
Want to take part from the comfort of your own home? Show off your LEGO master skills by recreating a heritage image with ‘Brickswich’.
Looking for some child-free time? There’s a stacked lineup of workshops, tours and open days waiting for you; from haunted after dark tours to exploring your family history, or maybe try your hand at blacksmithing.
