This event was initially planned for May 15, 2022 and had to be postponed due to the weather.
The annual Brisbane Kite Festival will be a fantastic day for the whole family with spectacular, gorgeous kites in the sky and a sea of colour highlighting beautifully crafted masterpieces. Don’t look up too long or you’ll miss the action on the ground: food and drink stalls, Carina Men’s Shed, kite entertainment and plenty of space to fly your own kite, or purchase one on the day.
Bring the whole family along to enjoy a day of fun and kite flying. A range of child-friendly activities will include face painting, rides and of course flying a kite.
Hot food and cold drinks will be available until sold out, or bring along a picnic/rug/chairs. See below for a full list of food stalls.
There will be a designated area for the public to fly their kites, alongside professional kite flyers. Bring along your own masterpiece, or purchase one on the day.
If you need help to get your kite airborne, don’t panic – professional kite flyers will be happy to help you on the day!
While the organising Rotary clubs have booked the park with Brisbane City Council for use during the Kite Festival, the council by-laws regarding dogs in public places remain unchanged:
Please consider carefully whether your beloved pet will be comfortable among crowds.
Ice creams, hamburgers, nachos, hot dogs, hot and cold drinks, barbecue sausages, Vietnamese, waffles, seafood — a huge range of food and drink will be available to purchase on the day. Or bring your own picnic and relax to watch the fun.
Make a gold coin or EFTPOS donation on the day. Donations support local and international community projects run by Rotary Club of Balmoral, and Rotary Club of Carindale. Check out their websites for more information on projects they’re leading, locally and globally.
