The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever

Event: The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever
Date: 23/07/2022

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM

Join the global phenomenon that is The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever and raise funds for The Sanctuary – Women, Children and Pet Refuge here on the Gold Coast.

After a two-year hiatus, it’s time to dust off your red dress and warm up your backward pterodactyl. The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever (MWHDE) is returning to the Gold Coast’s outdoor stage at HOTA, Home of the Arts.

The MWHDE is a joyous day of dance and fun for everyone. It’s about community connection and coming together with friends and strangers to participate in a truly unique and fun global movement while raising funds for a charity supporting women, children, and pets in a domestic violence refuge. We think donning red dresses and recreating this iconic dance has its own unique spiritual, healing, and magical elements!

The MWHDE Gold Coast has set a very ambitious goal for this year’s wuthering: to raise $2000 and get 200 Cathy’s dancing.

The Sanctuary is a self-funded refuge providing a safe haven for women and children fleeing a life of domestic violence, and at The Sanctuary, they can bring their pets! 100% of profits from our event are donated directly to The Sanctuary, and the impact is both immediate and direct.

The Sanctuary’s mission is to provide refuge, safety, comfort, nutrition, and case management counselling for women and children to help repair the trauma associated with domestic violence.

Sadly, since its doors opened in 2016, The Sanctuary has been at full capacity. For a service that is so vital, we are astounded that it receives ZERO no government funding, so any support our wuthering tribe provides is greatly needed and appreciated.

May marks the start of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (DFVP Month), and the theme for this year is ‘All of us, together’.

With 1 in 6 women in Australia experiencing domestic and family violence and a woman losing her life at the rate of one woman a week at the hands of her partner, our support for The Sanctuary Refuge is needed now more than ever.

The MWHDE Gold Coast is proudly presented by Lights Out And Dance.
