Between 21 – 24 October 2021, Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve will be buzzing with invertebrate research and activity.

Scientists from the Queensland Museum will be uncovering the hidden Tiny Giants who keep the rainforest ecosystem ticking.

Under the microscope will be trapdoor spiders, mites and moths butterflies and beetles.

We’re taking a deep dive into the leaf litter and invite you to join in the fun.

Come and learn directly from the scientists over four giant days in diverse walks, talks and workshops:
-‘Bug a scientist’ at daily Q&A sessions
-Come along to the kids critter crafternoon and stay for a family film night
-Explore the forest on walks with the scientists: choose from trapdoor spiders, flies, ants and beetles
-Join a night spotlight walk or see nocturnal trapping in action
-See science methods in action
-Listen to an expert panel on how you can contribute to invertebrate citizen science
-Explore creative techniques for invertebrate art
-Skill-up on macrophotography and butterfly identification
-Contribute to the big butterfly count and put Maleny on the map Explore the strange and marvellous world of Tiny -Giants this October at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve.
