Ipswich Junior Grammar School is a fully co-educational Junior School from Prep to Year 6 and an Early Education Centre (EEC) which caters to children from 3 years of age through its Kindergarten and Pre-Prep programs from 8.30am to 2.30pm, a morning program commencing at 6.30am and an afternoon program from 2.30pm to 6.00pm, 50 weeks per year (except for designated public holidays). Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care are also available.

Each Junior Grammar student has a Personalised Academic Learning Plan.
Entrepreneurial, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (e-STEM) programs are built into the curriculum from Prep to Year 6. Prep to Year 3 students have one e-STEM lesson per week, while Years 4 to 6 have two e-STEM lessons per fortnight on rotation with Physical Education.Study and Overnight top-up programs are available to girls in Years 5 and 6 which allow girls to remain after school until 9.00pm for a co-curricular activity, have a shower in the boarding house, eat dinner with the boarders and join the boarders for a two-hour study/homework session in a classroom with other girls from her year level and a teacher tutor. Supper is then provided before a 9.00pm pick-up or girls in Years 5 and 6 may also stay overnight. These top-up options are available with 24 hours’ notice.
Prep to Year 6 students also have a Bright Sparks Workshop as a new co-curricular offering in 2015 for extension e-STEM activities available to all children in these year levels.
Other co-curricular offerings include Andrews Cup Touch, Tennis, Netball, Softball, Track and Field, Cross Country and Swimming plus sporting Metro Meets. Musical offerings include dance, flute cadenza, three choirs, junior string ensembles which perform in competitions such as local Eisteddfods and the Waikakirri Dance Troupe.Private Speech and Drama, Public Speaking and Debating, Skipping teams, Art Club, Sports Clinics and Swim Club are also available after school.
