Nambour student Jack rising composer

11 November 2014

Often, one of the less conspicuous aspects of a school’s music program is music composition; however, Nambour Christian College Year 12 student, Jack Rienecker, continues to attract attention through his outstanding skills in composition and writing musical scores for drama productions.

Jack completed a sophisticated composition for his Year 12 music assessment and entered it in the 2014 ASME Young Composer’s Competition. His piece was awarded 2nd place and, with over 60 entries state-wide participating in this prestigious competition, this was a wonderful result for Jack and confirmation of his outstanding ability.

He was required to attend the award ceremony at the Qld Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane where he was able to showcase his composition in front of a discerning and influential audience of musicians and educators of music.

The NCC community first gained an appreciation of Jack's prodigious talents at the premiere of The Big Friendly Giant by the NCC based Inside Out Theatre Company (IOTC) in 2013. Then a Year 11 student, Jack wrote the musical score for this Roald Dahl inspired drama production - an amazing achievement for one so young.

Jack has also written the score for the upcoming IOTC production of Containerboxinople to be presented in the College Lecture Theatre on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November.

At the College Senior Speech Night on 30th October, Jack's composition was featured as the graduating Year 12 students were presented to the audience.
