Celebrity star spotting is set to ramp up this weekend as the 15th annual Gold Coast Film Festival rolls into town. And this year, locals can get a taste of fame as they star in their very own mini-movies!

Robina Town Centre’s Lights… Camera… GIF! activation will see innovative technology and state-of-the-art, 360-degree photography equipment come together to give shoppers a taste of what it’s like to be on a multi-million dollar Hollywood film set. Movie buffs will be the star of their own four-second mini film in instant video GIF format, allowing them to share it with their friends across their social media channels.

“We are delighted to partner with the Gold Coast Film Festival to deliver locals a truly unique cinematic experience that uses innovative technology never before seen on the Gold Coast,” said marketing manager of Robina Town Centre, Troy Archer. “We anticipate the launch of Lights… Camera… GIF! at Robina Town Centre will be a hit with our local shoppers who want to put themselves in the picture – literally!”

The experience is free for customers and will run from 11am to 6pm on April 20, 10am to 5pm on April 21 and 22, and 10am to 4pm on April 23.

Festivalgoers can also catch the ‘Documentary Season’ at Event Cinemas Robina, which is set to feature a collection of inspiring, moving and captivating independent films from Thursday April 20 until Sunday April 30. Films include Uncontained Love by award-winning Queensland cinematographer Jude Kalman, Whiteley, a look into the private life of iconic Australian artist Brett Whiteley, Supergirl, the story of a nine-year-old powerlifting phenomenon, and Ella, a tale of Australia’s first indigenous dancer to join the Australian Ballet.

Robina Town Centre is also giving one lucky movie buff the chance to win a $500 Event Cinemas Robina gift card through its #LightsCameraGifRobina competition. Share your own GIFs on their Facebook page with the hashtag #LightsCameraGifRobina. For more information, visit
