The fabulous Sunshine Coast has pulled out all the stops this weekend. You’ll find a bundle of fun in store for kids and families.
Want to know what’s happening for Sunshine Coast kids and families? Here are some of our favourite activities and events on the Sunshine Coast from Friday, May 6 to Sunday, May 8. Don’t forget Mother’s Day on Sunday!
Get active
Do you need to burn off some of that Easter chocolate? Now that we are firmly into autumn, there are plenty of sports in store this weekend for the little ones. Brazilian Soccer Skills has arrived at Aura and is launching its program at Nirimba State Primary School. Head along to the free tryout day on Monday, May 9, with sessions for five—to eight-year-olds and nine—to 12-year-olds.
Or why not pick up a paddle and bounce on into a game of table tennis? Spinneroos in Maroochydore is now running a great after-school program to give kids a fun first experience with table tennis. Designed for kids aged five to 12 years, there will be plenty of fun games — both on and off the table.
If you’ve got a little one that loves to tumble, the weekly Toddler Tumble and Dance Playgroup at Ausfunk Cheer & Dance, Marcoola, is just for them. The 45-minute sessions are an opportunity for your child to participate in relaxed, guided tumble and dance activities. It’s a fantastic space for them to burn some energy and learn new skills in a safe environment.
What’s happening for teens on the Sunshine Coast
The banks of Lake Kawana are set to come alive on Saturday, May 7 with a festival like no other. Designed as a festival to support young people, Nurture Festival is about connecting with likeminded people and feeling the support of your community.
Performing on stage will be: Jade Holland, Soap, Sari Abbot, Mayah, Jess Irvine, Pottsy and Aspy Jones. There will be heaps of activities too, including lawn games, outrigging, a virtual reef walk, food trucks, personalised skateboard decks, inflatables and dance performances.
Take some Mummy time at the markets
We love a bargain, and there’s plenty to be had this weekend at the Noosa Kids & Baby Market! This monthly event will be brimming with pre-loved stalls and local businesses to restock your kids wardrobe, games cupboard, or enjoy a fun morning with the kids. There’s plenty of treats for mum too!
Or, why not indulge yourself at the Noosa Farmers Market this weekend? Sip some of the region’s best coffee, wander and unwind as you discover the extraordinary array of organic fruits and vegetables, gourmet condiments and exquisite fruity jams, amongst some of the most beautifully hand crafted products you will find.
The most important person this weekend is Mum! Why not celebrate you at Caloundra Street Fair’s Mother’s Day market? A hidden treasure on the Sunshine Coast, featuring more than 120 unique stalls, the Caloundra Street Fair has something for everyone. It’s the market that the locals love!
