The long summer break is just around the corner! Kids are getting excited about the endless summer ahead; parents a little daunted by how to fill the impending eight weeks!

How about five days of outdoor adventure, camping and fun summer activities to keep those little ones off screens and entertained?

The Kids on the Coast/Kids in the City Vertec Adventure Summer Holiday Camp is coming! Designed for kids ages 8–17, with children being split into age groups, the camp aims to bring adventure into the lives of everyone who participates. At the core of the Vertec programs is the use of fun, hands on, adventurous activities to develop skills in leadership, team building, confidence, social skills, identity and worth.

Using key outdoor team-based experiences, the camps help individuals develop a sense of self worth and confidence as they learn to lead themselves. The result? Every participant is inspired to go beyond their comfort zone; to lead and motivate those around them, with a new sense of purpose.

The camp will be led by qualified facilitators, who specialise in youth camps.

Key activities at the camp include:

  • Archery
  • Bush craft & camping skills
  • Mountain biking
  • GPS challenge
  • Kayaking
  • Orienteering
  • Low & high ropes
  • Rock climbing & abseiling
  • Environmental bush walks
  • Group games & team initiatives
  • Survivor challenge

Why take the Vertec adventure challenge?

This is outdoor recreation with a purpose. By using adventure and the outdoors as a tool, Vertec camps can bring about positive change and a personal sense of purpose and potential for all participants.

With everything conducted in an outdoor environment, kids get back to nature – learning respect for the environment. Participating in team-focused activities that are challenging but achievable, kids also gain valuable skills in team play that are fundamental to happiness and growth: take the Survivor Challenge, conquer the Climbing Wall, and navigate your team through the GPS Challenge.

Teaching skills in healthy lifestyle and habits, as well as the importance of family and teamwork, the camps teach children skills that will last a lifetime.

Where is the camp held?

Vertec Adventure will deliver its camp activity programs at the breathtaking QCCC Tamborine. With a stunning mountain vista, surrounded by national parks with cool rainforest, creeks, waterfalls and spectacular escarpments, the beauty and tranquillity of Tamborine Mountain plateau is unbeatable.

Located only 30kms from the Gold Coast and 70kms from Brisbane, QCCC Tamborine is an ideal place to breathe in fresh mountain air, take in breathtaking views, and enjoy the laid back country charm. The site has one of the best views available in Queensland with a sweeping 360-degree vista of Brisbane, Moreton Bay and the Scenic Rim Hinterland. If that’s not enough, the accommodation is first class and the meals are exceptional! If you live local, there is also the option of attending the camp as a day participant, without the camping.
