HOTA, Home of the Arts, is transforming its Outdoor Stage into a skateboarding mecca for Concrete Culture.
With free skateboarding workshops from local legend Jesse Noonan, an inspiring exhibition from female skate movement Yeah Girl, professional skate demos and an open skate jam competition with Precinct Skate Shop, and live sets from local bands Perve Endings and Radolescent, there is something for the whole family.
The afternoon event kicks off at 3pm, where those lucky enough to already secure a place, can watch the little ones tear it up with skate workshops by the crew at Rock N Slide, led by pro skateboarder Jesse Noonan, and a special girls-only session at 3.45pm.
Sharing encouraging stories from ladies of shred all around the world with their Homecoming Exhibition is Yeah Girl, a global movement that celebrates the intersection of women’s skateboarding and creativity. Free skate sessions kick off from 4pm, followed by a cash for tricks competition from 4.30pm.
From 5pm, audiences can watch the pros take over as the Outdoor Stage is converted into an obstacle haven by the Precinct Skate Shop, followed by an Open Skate Comp where public participants can show off their tricks and try their luck with the cash for tricks prize pool.
Local punk bands, Perve Endings and Radolescent, top off the afternoon while guests can kick back or browse through thelocal skate brand and cultural food markets.
