NEWS: Breastfeeding room now open at YMCA Childcare Centre

21 December 2017

YMCA Childcare has opened a new parent room at their new centre at Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The new beautifully designed room has tea and coffee making facilities and is open to all families with children at the service.

A parent room such as this is a unique and important addition to a childcare facility, and is already proving to be in demand.

“It’s been open for a month and has been very popular,” said Anita Corney, from YMCA Sunshine Coast. “We have a lot of breastfeeding mums who work in the area so it means they can continue to feed bubs in a calm, private space.”

Though based in the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, the YMCA Childcare centre is open to the public, not just those that work at the hospital.

“The centre is open to all families,” said Anita, “and families that do not work at the hospital get half an hour complimentary parking in the morning and half an hour in the afternoon for drop off and pick up.”
