THINGS TO DO: Wildlife Warriors’
Backyard Campout

07 May 2018

Looking for something a little different to do this month?

Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors’ annual Backyard Campout is here again, encouraging Wildlife Warriors around the world reconnect with nature.

From now until June, you can join in the fight for conservation, by joining in the annual Backyard Campout!

Pull out your tent, hiking boots or lounge room fort in support of wildlife and wild places around the world. From the lounge room floor to the Nullarbor, grab your mates, pick your activity and reconnect with the beautiful world around us.

If camping isn’t your thing, there are many ways you can get back in touch with nature and help wildlife. Why not pledge to turn off technology, go hiking with friends, or hold a BBQ at the beach or local park with friends and family?

Now more than ever before, wildlife needs our help. Habitat destruction and the illegal wildlife trade has made a significant impact on animals and their homes around the world and the vision of Wildlife Warriors is that people, wildlife and habitat can survive and prosper, without being detrimental to the existence of each other.

Here in Australia, rubbish, urban development and car strikes are among the biggest risk to our wildlife. The biggest project of Wildlife Warriors, Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, has treated over 75,000 native Australian animals since opening its doors in 2004.

Backyard Campout is held from mid-March through to mid-June each year and hosting your own campout is super easy! So, line up a date, pick a location and invite your guests! If you don't have access to a tent you could make a fort in your living room, class room, backyard or beyond... there is a campout location for everyone!
