THINGS TO DO: National Walk Safely to School Day

30 April 2018

Friday 18th May is National Walk Safely to School Day. So it's time to leave the car at home and get moving!

Kick start your day and 'buddy up' with a friend or neighbour and walk to school.

If you live far from your school, you can still participate! Simply park the car at least a kilometre away and walk the rest of the way.

Sunshine Coast residents can also go into a draw for the chance to win lots of great prizes, including:

  • 10 x junior fitness watches
  • 10 x scooters and helmets
  • Plus, the best participating school will win the award-winning Go Seek 'Super Strong Bones' Show at their school.

Register* before 5pm Friday 18 May to go into the draw!

Walking regularly is great for your child’s health. It also helps to reduce traffic problems around schools and teaches your child about road safety.

Safety tips

  • Children younger than 10 years of age should always hold an adult’s hand when crossing the road.
  • Drivers should always be alert and considerate. Please take extra care when driving in school zones.
