DESCRIPTION:The Abbey Medieval Festival is Australia’s largest medieval festival featuring jousting\, historical reenactments\, markets\, and family-friendly activities. \nThe Abbey Medieval Festival celebrates life in the Middle Ages\, spanning 600 to 1600 AD in Europe and the Middle East\, and is hosted by the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology on the grounds of Abbeystowe in Moreton Bay. \nIn 2026\, the festival marks its 35th anniversary\, taking place from 10-12 July 2026. \nKey attractions include:\nJousting and Knight Combat: Australia’s top jousters compete in high-speed tournaments\, culminating in a grand final to crown the champion. \nHistorical Reenactments: Visitors can witness armoured combat\, Turkish oil wrestling\, archery\, and demonstrations from Viking\, Byzantine\, and Renaissance warriors. \nBirds of Prey and Archery: Live displays and interactive activities provide educational and entertaining experiences for all ages. \nMarkets and Food: A variety of authentic medieval-style food\, drinks\, and artisan goods are available. \nFamily Activities: Workshops\, kids’ activities\, and interactive experiences allow families to engage with medieval history. \nFriday Family Fun Day\nDiscover the best of the Festival with a sensory-friendly Friday Family Fun Day on Friday 10 July 2026. \nFeaturing all the crowd favourites\, including the Moreton Bay Medieval Joust Championship\, Birds of Prey\, combat demonstrations\, story telling\, workshops\, and live performers. \nThe kids can get hands on with the Archery range or make their own shield in the Kids Kingdom.
