The City of Gold Coast has announced plans to deliver a new inclusive playground at Paradise Point Parklands, along with upgrades to the park’s popular picnic facilities. Already a well-loved destination for local families, the parklands, located on The Esplanade in Paradise Point, are set to become even more welcoming to visitors of all ages and abilities.

The proposed playground will feature inclusive equipment designed to engage children with a diverse range of needs and abilities. Alongside the new play space, upgrades will include wheelchair-accessible picnic areas, complete with barbeques and outdoor furniture, as well as improved playground surfacing to ensure better access to all equipment.
These improvements will complement the recently added Changing Places toilet facility at the site, which caters for people with disabilities and high support needs.

Community feedback has played a central role in shaping the project. An initial round of consultation took place in 2023, during which locals were invited to share their thoughts and ideas for the new playground design. The results were published in a detailed community consultation report, available online. A second phase of consultation will be held during the concept design stage, and residents can look out for signage at the park for details on how to have their say.
