Fun, fresh air and a chance to raise eco-conscious kids, here’s how kids can get involved in the Clean Up Australia Great Spring Clean Up!
Looking for a meaningful, screen-free family activity this spring? The Great Spring Clean Up is back for 2025, and it’s the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, make a difference and inspire your kids to care for the planet.
Clean Up Australia has officially opened registrations for the annual event, which runs throughout September and October — right as the weather warms up and families head outside to enjoy parks, playgrounds and the great outdoors.
This year’s Great Spring Clean Up, supported by Bupa, invites families, schools and community groups to take action and help tackle litter in their local streets, beaches, bushland and waterways. It’s an easy, feel-good way to teach kids about sustainability and caring for their environment — while spending time together in nature.
“Spring is synonymous with heading outdoors to enjoy the warmer weather,” says Clean Up Australia Chair Pip Kiernan. “It’s also the perfect time to clean up our communities before the severe weather season kicks in and washes litter into our waterways.”

People picking up rubbish for Clean Up Australia Day
Families who register will receive a free Clean Up kit that includes gloves, rubbish bags and other helpful resources — everything you need for a safe and successful day of tidying up. There are special packs for families, individuals and community groups (businesses pay a small fee to cover costs), making it simple for parents to get involved.
Clean Up Australia has been empowering Aussies to take positive action for 35 years, and this spring is no different. It’s not just about picking up rubbish — it’s about raising kids who value the environment and understand their role in protecting it.
If you can’t join a Clean Up event, donations are also welcome, with 100% of funds going directly towards free kits and community support.
