Northside families can look forward to cooler summers and more year-round fun, with the Chermside Aquatic Centre set for a multi-million-dollar transformation.
Already one of Brisbane’s busiest public pools, Chermside Aquatic Centre has welcomed more than 860,000 visitors in the past three years. Now, plans are in motion to create a modern, family-friendly precinct that caters to swimmers of all ages and abilities.
The upgrade will feature:
- A new indoor 25m heated pool with accessibility features
- A heated outdoor 50m pool with a moveable swim wall
- Modern amenities and more shade
- Waterplay features for little ones
- An upgraded café/kiosk for post-swim snacks
Civic Cabinet Chair for Community and the Arts Vicki Howard said the upgrade would “give families more to see and do close to home” while keeping pace with Brisbane’s rapid growth.
Marchant Ward Councillor Danita Parry said locals “love this pool” and will welcome an upgrade that makes it even more of a community hub alongside the nearby library, sports centres, and 7th Brigade Park.
Procurement opens 18 August for a partner to design, build, and operate the new-look centre, with construction expected to begin after the contract is awarded in 2026.
