Families in Caloundra have a brand-new space to play, connect, and relax, with the opening of Jujuba Play Cafe — a bright and beautiful indoor play centre designed especially for little ones aged 0–6. Opening its doors on 14 November at 14 Baldwin Street, Caloundra, Jujuba offers the perfect blend of playtime for kids and seriously good coffee for parents.
The concept is the brainchild of two local mums who saw a gap in the community for a space that truly caters to both children and their caregivers.
“As mums ourselves, we wanted a play cafe that felt like home — a place where our kids could explore safely, and we could actually enjoy a coffee and connect with other parents,” said Clara Braunger, Director at Jujuba Play & Café. “We couldn’t quite find it here on the Coast, so we decided to create it.”

Jujuba’s design centres on thoughtful play zones for different stages of childhood, ensuring every child can explore confidently.
The Soft Play area, designed for children aged 0 – 3, is a cushioned sensory wonderland perfect for crawling, taking their first steps, and gentle play. Older toddlers and preschoolers can explore the Active Play zone, a multi-level structure featuring slides, climbing frames, and spaces for imaginative play. Then there’s the star attraction — the Jujuba Bus and Car Track, a colourful centrepiece where kids can drive, play conductor, or race around under watchful eyes.
“We’ve focused on creating areas that encourage both independent play and shared discovery,” said Clara.

Coffee, connection and community in Caloundra
Parents haven’t been forgotten either. The onsite café serves barista-made coffee and fresh food, using local suppliers wherever possible. There’s plenty of comfortable seating overlooking the play zones, so adults can relax while keeping an eye on their little ones.
Jujuba’s founders say the café aspect was just as important as the play space.
“This is a space where you can meet a friend, sip a great flat white, and know your child is safe, entertained, and happy. It’s about creating community — not just another play centre,” said Clara.
Accessibility and comfort were also key considerations. The venue offers on-site parking, wide pram access, and an inclusive layout to welcome all families.

Parties and playdates made easy
For birthdays and special occasions, Jujuba offers party packages that take the stress out of celebrating. Each booking includes 1 hour and 45 minutes in a themed party room, a snack box for each child, and catering options for adults. Only one party runs at a time, ensuring every celebration feels personal and unrushed.
There’s even a projector available for customised slideshows or messages, and full venue hire is an option for larger events.
The meaning behind the name
The name “Jujuba” comes from the Portuguese word for jellybean — a nod to the founders’ love of colour, playfulness, and sweetness.
“A handful of jellybeans is joyful and a little chaotic — just like childhood!” said Clara. “That’s exactly what we wanted Jujuba to be: bright, fun, and full of heart.”

A new home for play on the Sunshine Coast
More than just a business, Jujuba was born out of the founders’ shared experience of raising young children without extended family nearby. They wanted to build a space that offered not only play but also belonging — somewhere parents could find support and friendship.
With its combination of imaginative play, family-friendly design, and welcoming atmosphere, Jujuba is set to become a new favourite destination for Sunshine Coast families.
