This January, Noosa Arts Theatre is thrilled to partner with Little Seed Theatre Company for a joyful and whimsical retelling of the classic pantomime Sleeping Beauty.
Brimming with music, laughter, colourful characters, and good old-fashioned pantomime mischief, this production promises a delightful experience for audiences of all ages.
Our tale begins in the kingdom of King Florestan and his well-meaning but scatterbrained Queen Scatty, who finally welcome their longed-for daughter, Princess Aurora. But when the King forgets to invite the wicked fairy Carabosse to the royal Christening, the celebration takes a sinister turn. A dark spell is cast, a kingdom trembles, and only a charming prince, the power of true love, and the comedic chaos of a well-meaning village idiot might be enough to save the day. Expect magic, mayhem, and plenty of chances to cheer, boo, and laugh along.
This special collaboration highlights the strengths of both companies: Noosa Arts Theatre’s proud tradition of community storytelling and Little Seed Theatre Company’s vibrant, youth-driven creativity. Directing this fabulous pantomime is Johanna Wallace, whose lifelong passion for youth theatre has nurtured a thriving creative community on the Sunshine Coast. We are also delighted to welcome Francine Cain as the choreographer, a celebrated musical theatre performer whose award-winning career and wealth of experience bring invaluable inspiration to our young artists.
Sleeping Beauty is a celebration of partnership, creativity, and the magic that happens when emerging performers and seasoned professionals share a stage. Whether you’re a longtime supporter of local theatre or discovering pantomime for the first time, this show is sure to enchant.
