Queensland families can now access fresh cost-of-living relief, with the Queensland Government opening Round 2 of its popular sports vouchers program on January 29.
The Play On! Sports Vouchers program provides a $200 voucher for each eligible child aged 5 to 17, helping families cover the cost of club membership, registration or participation fees at registered sporting organisations across the state.
Each child can receive one voucher per financial year, with a portion of vouchers reserved for children living with disability and those in regional and rural Queensland. Children who received a voucher in Round 1 are not eligible to apply again in Round 2.
The initiative aims to remove financial barriers and encourage more Queensland kids to get active, try new sports and stay involved in their local communities.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Tim Mander, said the start of the school year was the perfect time for families to take advantage of the program.
“Queensland is the home of Australian sport, and we don’t want cost-of-living pressures to stop children from being active,” Minister Mander said. “These sports vouchers provide certainty for families and community sporting clubs, while helping kids kick off the year healthy and engaged.”
The Queensland Government has committed $62.5 million each year for four years to continue the program, providing long-term support for families and grassroots sport.
Parents, carers and guardians are encouraged to apply early, as demand for the sports vouchers is expected to be high.
More information about the Play On! Sports Vouchers program, including eligibility and how to apply, is available on the Play On! website.
