Culture and tradition take centre stage for Lunar New Year at Aussie World

Aussie World will come alive with vibrant colours, tradition and family fun for the 2026 Lunar New Year Lantern Festival on Saturday 28 February from 5pm to 9pm.

Lunar New Year is a cultural celebration marking the beginning of the lunar year, based on the moon’s phases.

The annual Lunar New Year at Aussie World will be hosted by the Sunshine Coast Chinese Association.

It will include a lively atmosphere of cultural performances, traditional elements, themed food offerings and entertainment throughout the theme park.

“Aussie World is proud to once again be supporting the Sunshine Coast Chinese Association and hosting this vibrant and fun family-friendly event for the third year running,” said Aussie World Head of Sales and Marketing Sebastian Hahn.

“It’s a unique opportunity for the Sunshine Coast community to experience Chinese cultures and tradition, and to understand the meaning behind Lunar New Year.

“We will also be opening up our rides and attractions to give families the chance to combine cultural celebration with some classic theme park fun at the Sunshine Coast’s only theme park,” Sebastian added.

“The Lantern Festival is the official end of the Lunar New Year celebration series before people return to their regular lives and the fresh, wonderful year after that.”

“People cherish the last celebration, come together at the Lantern Festival, sharing blessings for their families, for one another and for themselves, and wishing their loved ones a happy and wonderful year ahead.”

Entry to the Lantern Festival only costs $11 per person.

Entry to the Lantern Festival and unlimited access to Aussie World’s rides and attractions start from $41 per person.

There will be a small gift for those who get in quickly and purchase their ticket for the first 500 tickets sold.
