Little ArtLab | Seashell Spiral
Little ArtLab provides hands-on creative fun for kids aged 3-5 years to enjoy with their parents and carers. Little ones can experiment, play and create with art-based activities inspired by HOTA Gallery’s current exhibitions.
Have you noticed the patterns and spirals you see when you pick up a seashell or spot a snail in the garden? This Little ArtLab celebrates the opening of Aka Sorbie: Saltwater Heart in HOTA’s Children’s Gallery with a making activity inspired by the majestic nautilus shell.
You will create our own bright spinning nautilus-inspired hanging focusing on repeated line and colour. You will first practise drawing spirals, then fill shells with curvy waves emanating from the centre, adding dots and organic shapes. There will be the opportunity to play with stencils before you cut your spiral out and watch your three-dimensional creations twirl in the wind!
