There are two types of people in this world: those who love a spotless house and those who have never maintained one.
We are firmly the latter.
Our house is… a lot. Two teenagers (chaos), football boots dumped at the door, endless trips to the beach (sand, sand, and more sand), a dog that also thinks sticks can only be chewed on carpet, and a mud-pit garden that seems determined to relocate itself inside (the last part of a renovation that will never go away).
Add in two parents working long hours and a general lack of time, energy, and frankly, willpower to keep on top of it all, and you get the picture.
So when the Ecovacs DEEBOT T80S OMNI arrived on our doorstep to test, we didn’t just unbox it; we welcomed it as a new member of the family.
Meet Domingo the DEEBOT (yes, really)
It took approximately three minutes for this robot vacuum to become a person.
Googly eyes were non-negotiable (thanks to the kids), and a name was essential. We landed on Domingo – partly because my daughter is learning Spanish, but mostly because this little dude has given us our Sundays back.
I’ll be honest: I am not the most tech-savvy person. Anything that requires instructions longer than a takeaway menu usually loses me. And this was our first foray into the world of robot anything. But the setup was genuinely reeeeally easy.
The app walks you through everything step by step, and within minutes, the DEEBOT T80S was on its way, intelligently mapping our home as if it had lived there for years. It recognised different surfaces (tiles, carpet), and you can tweak and label areas in the app if needed.
For a multi-level house like ours, this was a game-changer. You can create multiple maps — just move Domingo upstairs, let it scan, and off it goes again, happy to have a job to do.

DEEBOT T80S mapping with LiDAR
One of the surprising little joys? It chats to you! Not in a creepy, AI-is-taking-over kind of way, but in a genuinely helpful, slightly charming way. It’ll tell you when it’s heading back to its station, when it’s washing its mop, and when it’s heading back out to clean more.
You can turn this off. But honestly, why would you?
Domingo’s updates on his progress have become part of the household noise. It’s oddly comforting knowing someone (something?) is on top of the floors.
The real test: can the DEEBOT T80S handle our mess?
This is where I expected it to fall short. Because our floors aren’t just “a bit dusty.” They’re a full-blown obstacle course of sand, dirt, chewed sticks, crumbs, and whatever mystery substance teenagers leave behind.
But this is where the DEEBOT T80S OMNI really impressed me. It vacuums properly… like, way better than I do. With up to 24,800Pa suction power, it picks up everything, from fine dust to gritty sand to dog hair that somehow embeds itself into everything. And because it follows a pattern, it doesn’t miss spots (unlike my sporadic efforts).
And, thanks to its OZMO Roller 2.0 mopping system (which delivers up to 16 times the pressure of traditional robot mops), it actually scrubs the floor rather than just politely wiping over it. You can see the difference. The kind where you walk barefoot and go, “Oh. This is what clean feels like.” (Also: the colour of the dirty water the first time? Confronting.)

Smart enough to handle chaos
Our floors are rarely clear. Art projects, shoes, bags, rogue socks… It’s a minefield.
While I’d recommend a quick tidy (mainly to get the best clean), the DEEBOT is impressively good at navigating around obstacles. Its AIVI 3D 3.0 technology means it can recognise and move around things without getting stuck or confused.
It also handles thresholds between rooms with ease, and didn’t hesitate for a second before heading into our teenage boys’ room, which frankly deserves some kind of medal.

There was a genuine moment of relief after that first clean when I realised that Domingo is not going to fling itself down the stairs or end up stranded like a tortoise on its back.
You can actually trust it to get on with the job while you get on with your life.
The magic of coming home to clean floors
The real luxury I discovered from having this little robot clean our floors was the gift of time. Because you can control everything from your phone, you can run it while you’re out — at work, on the school run, anywhere. And then you come home… to clean floors.
It’s one of those small, everyday upgrades that has a surprisingly big impact. The house feels calmer. Less chaotic. More under control, even when everything else isn’t.
Hands-free means actually hands-free
One of my biggest concerns with robot vacuums has always been maintenance. Because if I’m still doing half the work… what’s the point?
But the OMNI Station is where Domingo really earns his five stars.
It washes the mop with hot water. It dries it with hot air. It empties the dustbin. It basically takes care of itself.
With up to 90 days of hands-free dust collection and extended mop maintenance, it’s genuinely low-effort in a way that feels almost too good to be true.

DEEBOT T80S has up to 24,800Pa suction power
I’ll admit it: I always thought robot vacuums were a bit of a gimmick. A nice idea, and probably helpful… but not essential.
I was so wrong. Because Domingo now ranks up there with the dishwasher for me. One of those things you don’t realise you needed until you have it… and then you can’t imagine life without it.
Because it’s not just about clean floors. But also about time and mental load.
It’s about removing one more thing from the never-ending list.
Any downsides?
Only that I wish he could roll in with a cup of tea in bed on a Sunday morning. Now, that would be a five-star-worthy Domingo.
Final verdict
The Ecovacs DEEBOT T80S OMNI is not just a robot vacuum. It’s a quiet, efficient, slightly adorable teammate that slots seamlessly into busy, chaotic family life.
It handles real mess, saves real time, and delivers the deeply underrated luxury of walking into a clean home at the end of a long day.
We didn’t just like it, we got attached. And if that’s not the highest praise you can give a vacuum… I don’t know what is.
