From Clicks to bricks! Beloved online furniture brand Mocka opens its first Australian flagship store in Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast.
For nearly two decades, Mocka has been a staple of Australian online shopping, loved for making stylish, family-friendly furniture accessible. Now, the brand is stepping off the screen and onto the showroom floor. We chatted with Bronte Jacobson, Head of Marketing & Ecommerce at Mocka, about launching their first flagship bricks-and-mortar store on the Sunshine Coast.
What inspired you to start your business online in the first place?
Mocka began in 2007 with a pretty simple idea – young families shouldn’t have to choose between good design and an affordable home. At the time, there weren’t many options for stylish, family-friendly flatpack furniture online, especially for parents trying to create spaces that actually worked for real life. We saw an opportunity to make great design more accessible and help families create homes they genuinely love living in.
At what point did you realise it was time to expand beyond the online space?
Over the years, we’ve built an amazing community of Mocka families online, and one thing we kept hearing from Australian customers was how much they wanted to experience Mocka in person – to sit on the sofa, open the drawers, see the finishes and walk through styled spaces.
We’ve seen incredible online growth in Australia, but we’ve always known there’s something special about creating a physical space where customers can truly connect with the brand. Opening stores feels like the natural next step for us.

Why choose Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, for your first Mocka store? What makes it the right fit for your brand?
The Sunshine Coast feels like a very natural home for Mocka. There’s such a strong sense of family, lifestyle and relaxed living here, which aligns beautifully with our approach to design. Our ranges are made for modern family life – from nursery and kids’ furniture through to affordable pieces for first homes, beach houses and guest rooms – so being part of a community with so many young families felt like the perfect fit.
What are you most excited about in the new Mocka store?
Honestly, seeing the brand come to life in a completely new way has been really exciting for the whole team. The store has been designed to feel warm, welcoming and inspiring – somewhere people can take their time and properly imagine the pieces in their own homes.
We’ve created beautiful nursery room setups, custom shelving displays and spaces that feel lived in rather than overly polished. There’s also plenty of technology built into the experience, with easy staff-assisted tablet checkout throughout the store and digital price ticketing to make shopping feel seamless and relaxed.
And because family is such a big part of who we are, we’ve made sure the store feels genuinely family-friendly, not just family-tolerant.
What surprised you most about the process of opening a brick-and-mortar store?
Probably how much thought goes into every tiny detail of a physical space. When you’re building a store from scratch, everything matters – how people move through the space, how products are displayed, even how a nursery setup makes someone feel when they walk past it.
We want to bring excitement back to in-store furniture shopping and create a space that showcases that we are for modern Australian families.
It’s been a really exciting creative process for the team because we’ve had the chance to ask ourselves: “What would make furniture shopping actually enjoyable for families?”

On-trend furniture at accessible prices at the new Mocka store, Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast.
What can customers expect when they walk through your doors?
Customers can expect on-trend furniture at accessible prices, beautifully styled spaces and a team that’s there to help without the pressure. We’ve also removed the traditional checkout queue, so purchases can be made anywhere in-store via a tablet, making the whole experience feel simpler and more comfortable.
It’s also going to be a space that feels relaxed, inspiring and easy to shop. We know shopping with little ones doesn’t always go to plan, so we’ve designed the experience with real family life in mind – including a kids’ play corner to help keep tiny shoppers entertained.
Are there any exclusive in-store offerings or experiences?
Yes – and we can’t wait for it. We’ll be celebrating our grand opening in July with a family-friendly launch event, and everyone’s invited along. There’ll be giveaways, kids’ face painting, Mocka vouchers to win and plenty happening throughout the day.
Keep an eye on our Instagram or sign up for our emails for all the details as we get closer to the opening.
What has been the biggest challenge in opening a physical store?
One of our biggest priorities was making sure the in-store experience felt just as easy and enjoyable as shopping with Mocka online. That meant thinking carefully about how families actually shop – especially parents juggling a hundred things at once.
From the store layout to the technology and styling, every decision was made with the customer experience in mind. We wanted people to walk in and instantly feel comfortable, inspired and understood.
Do you see more physical locations in your future?
Absolutely. We’re happy to share that we will be opening a second Australian store in Victoria in the second half of 2026, alongside a Christchurch, New Zealand, store opening in July.
This feels like a really exciting new chapter for Mocka. We’ve spent years connecting with families online, and now we’re looking forward to bringing that same experience into physical spaces across Australia and New Zealand.
