Botanic by Night: NightGlow

Step into a breathtaking after‑dark world as Botanic by Night: NightGlow transforms Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot‑tha into an illuminated, immersive art trail from 25 September to 10 October. This atmospheric nighttime experience invites guests on a lantern‑lit journey celebrating iconic native wildlife through large‑scale, handcrafted sculptures and First Nations storytelling.
Created in collaboration with contemporary First Nations artists Casey Coolwel‑Fisher and Nathan Peckham, alongside the renowned illuminated‑sculpture collective Ample Projects, each lantern features unique patterns, totems and cultural stories woven into its design. Together, their works form a powerful dialogue between Countries, culture and ecology.
Guests will encounter glowing animal installations, gentle ambient soundscapes inspired by the yidaki, and an event route designed to encourage slow, thoughtful exploration. The experience highlights ecological interdependence, inviting visitors to learn about the animals, their habitats and the living systems that make the Gardens thrive.
NightGlow is also shaped with deep respect for Country and culture, with cultural approval provided by respected Aboriginal elder Nurri Theresa Jackey‑Williams.
Food & Flavour Under the Stars
A dedicated food truck precinct at the Amphitheatre offers Brazilian barbecue, German street food, gluten‑free favourites, waffles, pancakes and tiramisu – exclusively for ticketholders.
Accessibility & Comfort
The 837‑metre lantern route is fully paved, wheelchair‑friendly and designed without strobe or laser effects. Accessible toilets, pram‑friendly shuttle services and plenty of rest areas ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors.
