Making a splash with free baby swim lessons

Carlile Swim is launching a national initiative offering free weekly swimming lessons for infants aged three to five months. Designed to kickstart early aquatic safety and confidence, the program officially rolls out across all Carlile locations nationwide on 1st September 2026.

Led by qualified baby swim specialists, the play-based program provides families with one free 30-minute lesson per week in the swim school’s purpose-built pools. Aside from a one-off $15 registration fee, there are no ongoing costs or hidden catches. Parents join their little ones in the water, learning together to build trust, essential safety fundamentals and early motor coordination.

Starting water familiarisation in infancy lays a vital foundation for life.

Studies show that early aquatic exposure boosts physical coordination, cognitive development, and social confidence, while helping babies feel relaxed in new environments.

“Introducing babies to the water early isn’t about teaching them to swim laps; it’s about building comfort, trust, and early safety awareness,” says Troy McDonagh, Carlile Swim CEO. “Starting between three and five months helps infants feel naturally at ease in the pool, supporting their motor skills while giving parents a beautiful, dedicated way to bond.”

The gentle sessions follow Carlile Swim’s strict no-harm approach, allowing infants to progress comfortably at their own pace before transitioning into ongoing programs at five months.

Places for the free weekly sessions are limited. To check local availability or book a spot, visit carlile.com.au.
