Brisbane Council’s holiday program is back, giving families hundreds of affordable and free school holiday activities to keep kids active, creative and entertained throughout the winter break.
From local libraries and neighbourhood parks to community venues and Brisbane City Hall, more than 400 activities will be happening right across the city, helping families make the most of Brisbane’s beautiful winter weather.
Across the suburbs, Brisbane’s 33 libraries will host more than 150 events, including STEM challenges, craft workshops, storytelling sessions, live performances, NAIDOC Week activities and creative experiences for kids and teens.
The much-loved Gold Star and Little Stars Reading Clubs will also return, having inspired more than 130,000 Brisbane children to discover the joy of reading since the program began.
For families looking to get outdoors and stay active, more than 120 free Active and Healthy sessions will be held across the city.
From obstacle challenges and boxing classes to nature-based activities and sports sessions for all abilities, there will be plenty of opportunities for kids as young as 2 to get moving, build confidence and have fun close to home.

Archikid workshop is part of the free school holiday activities program from Brisbane Council.
Free school holiday activities over the school holidays include:
- Free performances of K-Pop Kidz at Brisbane City Hall as part of the Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program on Sunday 28 June.
- Free archiKID workshops at the Brisbane Powerhouse, inspiring young designers with creative thinking and hands on play
- Free and affordable workshops at Museum of Brisbane including MoB Kids: Remix Your Brissy, City Sculptures and creative workshops for teens.
- Free hands-on nature experiences at Environment Centres across the city, including craft activities, wildlife workshops and birdwatching adventures.
- Free bike skills workshops for riders of all ages and abilities in parks across the suburbs
- Free creative workshops, performances, yoga classes and open mic nights at the Visible Ink Youth Hub in Fortitude Valley
“It’s incredible to see how quickly kids build confidence, strength and resilience through obstacle training – they’re running, climbing and problem-solving all at once,” said Active and Healthy Coach Emma Teede.
“With obstacle racing now part of modern pentathlon at the Olympics, what we’re teaching today could genuinely open the door for these kids to compete on the world stage in Brisbane 2032.”
“Even more importantly, programs like Active and Healthy make these experiences accessible, helping kids stay active, develop lifelong fitness habits and simply enjoy moving their bodies in a fun, supportive environment.”
Whether families are looking for indoor fun, outdoor adventures or creative experiences, there’s something for every age and interest these school holidays.
Many activities are free, with paid activities starting at just $2.
