Weekends and school holidays in the Redlands community will never be the same again under plans to create a new family fun zone at Toondah Harbour
, including a South Bank-style lagoon pool and water play area.
Local families will no longer have to leave the region in search of entertainment when they have a world-class recreational hub on their doorstep in Cleveland.
The premier lifestyle precinct will feature 3.5-hectare foreshore parklands with large lagoon pool and water play activities, walking paths, picnic spots and green open spaces. Other recreational amenities will include a wetland education and cultural centre and low impact walking trails.
A marina plaza with boutique retail and dining precinct will complement the precinct to create an exciting leisure and events destination attracting tourism to the region.
Toondah Harbour Project Lead Rabieh Krayem said once completed, the project would be a pre-eminent, waterfront destination for the entire Redlands community.
“We are very excited to be able to provide this new waterside entertainment precinct as part of our over overall plans for Toondah Harbour,” said Mr Krayem.
“Toondah Harbour will be a valuable community asset for the region and wonderful waterfront location where friends and families can enjoy the best the Redlands Coast has to offer.
“Featuring unprecedented foreshore access, including 1.5 kilometres of boardwalks, nature and heritage trails will add even more options for locals and visitors.
“Toondah Harbour is creating a modern Redlands that meets the needs of current and future generations while maintaining and preserving the local environment.”
The new Toondah Harbour at the end of Middle Street, Cleveland, will create a logical community boulevard which connects the CBD to the marina and port.
The redevelopment will provide a new ferry terminal and charter boat facility to encourage tourism and to improve Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) residents commute to the mainland.
As the gateway to the beautiful Moreton Bay and surrounding islands, the revitalisation of Toondah Harbour will be a catalyst for economic growth throughout the Redlands and south-east Queensland.
Once completed, Toondah Harbour will bring 50,000 additional visitors to the Redlands Coast each year, injecting $17 million in economic activity for local businesses.
