Public health and performing arts collide at The Ekka

Queenslanders visiting the EKKA will have the chance to meet a new family of fun and educational characters designed to help them build healthy habits as part of a brand-new stage show premiering at this year’s event.

Podsquad

Created to make your family healthier and happier, Podsquad is a free, play-centric wellbeing program that supports children and families as they build better health and lifestyle habits together.

Podsquad is now being brought to life through an educational stage production exclusive to The Ekka.

Podsquad Live

At this year’s Ekka (12-20 August 2023), parents and kids are encouraged to stop by the Education Stage presented by Podsquad to experience the live interactive performance.

Developed in partnership between Health and Wellbeing Queensland (HWQld) and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Podsquad Live will entertain the crowd while teaching families about nutrition, how to become more physically active and improve their sleep habits in a fun, interactive way.

Combining pantomime, play-based learning and physical comedy, the educational performance encourages the children in the audience – with some help from the Podsquad mascots (Epipods) – to assist three intrepid adventurers, complete their healthy habit quest as they explore the magical world of Imago. Along the way, the audience will become immersed in the interactive learning experience before getting the chance to meet the Epipods in real life.
