Celebrate Under Eights Day at the State Library

Free family activities, performances and storytelling will take centre stage at State Library of Queensland this month, with an Under Eights Celebration Day (23 May) and a very special National Simultaneous Storytime (27 May).
The Under Eights Celebration Day invites families to explore The Corner’s newly transformed spaces following a $3.6 million redevelopment funded by donors and the Queensland Government.
This free drop-in event includes hands-on activities, performances and cultural experiences designed for children aged under eight and their families. From art making and storytelling, to music, movement and quiet spaces to relax, the program encourages curiosity and participation. Families can move between The Corner, kuril dhagun, the Talking Circle and outdoor areas, discovering a range of experiences that celebrate early childhood creativity and community.
Highlights include:
• Make+Meld: wooden craft workshops
• The Buttery Music School: family karaoke choir experience
• Circa circus workshop
• Self-directed quiet space on State Library’s relaxing River Decks
Activities will extend across the Queensland Cultural Centre including free entry to Queensland Museum’s Croc! exhibition for under eights and interactive digital art making activities at QAGOMA’s Children’s Art Centre.
