‘Fairy Tales’

Take a fascinating journey into a fairy-tale world where folklore, enchantment and tales of caution intertwine with art, design and film.
From the opulence of a gilded carriage, an exquisite glass slipper and the depths of a wild and twisted woodland, to wicked witches, magical animals and stalwart princes and princesses, GOMA’s latest exhibition highlights how the fairy tales that have entertained us for centuries are explored through art and culture.
Exclusive to Brisbane and only at the Gallery of Modern Art, ‘Fairy Tales’ showcases exceptional contemporary art, breath-taking costumes, immersive installations and stunning cinema, from celebrated artists Abdul Abdullah, Hans Christian Andersen, Del Kathryn Barton, Jean Cocteau, Jim Henson, Henri Matisse, Tracey Moffatt, Patricia Piccinini and many more who draw on these narratives to entrance, delight and disconcert audiences.
