Fiji Day

October 10 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Fiji Day

Fiji Day commemorates 10 October 1970, when Fiji became an independent nation. It is a day of cultural pride, identity, community and connection, and this special inaugural event brings that spirit to the Sunshine Coast.

Everyone is welcome — including the wider Sunshine Coast community, the broader Pacific Islands community, members of the Fijian diaspora including iTaukei and Indo-Fijian communities, PALM workers and their families, and anyone who would like to experience and celebrate Fijian culture.

The day will include:

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Market stalls, food vendors and community connection throughout the day.

11:00 AM
Official Opening Ceremony
This special seated ceremony will officially launch the day with cultural significance and community spirit, including ceremonial moments, national anthems, and addresses from invited dignitaries and community representatives.  The Official Opening Ceremony is free but ticketed, with tickets to be made available via Humanitix. Seating is limited, so early bookings are encouraged.

From midday, the celebration continues with live entertainment in the auditorium, featuring a vibrant mix of Pacific island-inspired music, contemporary island rhythms, uplifting performances and community atmosphere.

The event is family-friendly.
