Lunar New Year
Saddle up and celebrate the Year of the Horse in Chinatown this Lunar New Year, with entertainment, amazing food deals, kids’ activities and fireworks!
Head down to Chinatown, Southport, where a vibrant melting pot of colour, cuisine, celebration and cultural entertainment awaits!
2026 is the Year of the Horse – representing vitality and perseverance.
Lunar New Year festivities kick off at 3pm along Davenport and Young Streets and include:
Lion and dragon dancers
Kids’ activities (including lotus origami making, Chinese stamp making, woodblock printing, Chinese name writing, face painting and diabolo playing)
Interactive wishing tree
Kizuna drummers
Food trucks
Market stalls
Fireworks finale at 7:30pm.
