Queensland Ballet Academy’s Foundation Program is open to primary school students from across the Brisbane metropolitan area.
The Foundation Program runs across the four terms of the Queensland state school calendar year. Students may participate in between 1 and 4 afternoon sessions a week, depending on their enrolment level, and will take part in a variety of ballet theory and practical lessons. Acceptance into the program is through an audition, or by invitation.
Academic year level and age are used as a guide when placing students within their Foundation Program levels.
The Foundation Program is delivered at the Academy’s world-class facilities based at Kelvin Grove State College.
Auditions for the Foundation Program involves an after school visit to Queensland Ballet Academy to participate in a group session where children will be guided through easy-to-follow activities. The audition process is designed to identify suitability for commencing a professional ballet training pathway and allows students to experience an audition for the first time and become more familiar with the process before auditioning for future programs.
Audition applications open: 1 May 2025
Audition date: 9 June 2025
