Spring into creativity at Museum of Brisbane

Museum of Brisbane’s Spring school holiday program brings colour, craft and creativity to the heart of the city.
Families are invited to make, explore and create at Museum of Brisbane these school holidays, with a colourful lineup of free and low-cost drop-in activities, hands-on workshops and family favourites running from 19 September to 5 October.
From badge-making to woven creations inspired by artist Mahala Burns, and a teens workshop led by Artist in Residence Sunday Jemmott, there’s something happening at MoB every day of the week. Whether young makers are weaving, doodling, collaging or creating, Museum of Brisbane’s holiday program offers so many ways to get inspired this Spring.

MoB Kids: Pop Badges
19 September–5 October 2026 | 10:00am–1:00pm | $2 for 1 badge | $5 for 3 badges | All ages

Create, pin and wear! Kids can get creative and make their own wearable masterpiece inspired by the bright and playful world of artist Sunday Jemmott. Mix, match and mash up colours, patterns and images to design a badge bursting with personality. Experiment with fun shapes and creative combinations to make a one-of-a-kind accessory that’s ready to wear, share and show off. Bookings not required, simply drop in and wear your creation proudly!

MoB Kids: Fun with Ferns
19 September–5 October 2026 | 10:00am–1:00pm | FREE | All ages (parental supervision required)
Weave, wear and wander! Kids can get hands-on with raffia and fern shapes inspired by Stories You Wear: Magpie Goose artist Mahala Burns and her artwork, Bungwal Fern. Twist, weave and layer your way to a nature-inspired creation that’s ready to wear and take home. Full of texture, imagination and leafy fun, this free drop-in activity invites young makers to connect with nature through creativity and play. Bookings not required, drop in and let your imagination grow!

MoB Teens: Sunday Fun-day Workshop
Wednesday 23 & 30 September 2026 | 2:00pm–4:00pm | $30 + booking fee | Ages 10–15

Paint, play and make your mark! A creative and colourful workshop just for teens, led by upcoming Artist in Residence Sunday Jemmott. Join an afternoon of experimentation – mix paint, doodles, scribbles and collage to create an artwork that’s completely your own. Layer, splash and play with texture in a relaxed workshop where there are no rules, just plenty of room to explore. Sunday will share insights into her creative practice and help guide teens as they bring their ideas to life. Leave with a one-of-a-kind artwork and a head full of colourful inspiration!

Warrajamba
On now until Sunday 22 November 2026 | 10:00am–5:00pm daily | Free | All ages
Join Artist in Residence, Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, on her quest to find Warrajamba, the mermaid from an ancestral story passed down through generations. Within the Creative Space, visitors can take part in free making activities, including crafting mermaid or dugong dolly peg dolls using stamps featuring Delvene’s designs, for a playful way to engage with the story and the artist’s visual practice.

Clock Tower Tours

Discover the hidden history of heritage-listed City Hall on a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. Ride one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts and take in sweeping 360-degree views from the top of the city. Go behind the scenes of Australia’s largest analogue clock faces, then step out onto the observation platform for a unique view across Brisbane. Book online to secure your place – spaces

Little Artist’s Eye Spy

There is plenty for little eyes to spy with this free MoB Kids activity sheet. Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. Ask friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive. They have activity sheets for children and their parents or carers.
