Unique Seafood Art Class

January 12 @ 10:00 am
Unique Seafood Art Class

Visit the Tweed Coast for a unique School Holiday activity in Pottsville, NSW (between the Gold Coast and Byron Bay).

Pipit Restaurant’s unique seafood art class, led by award-winning chef Ben Devlin, will be a special School Holidays Gyotaku Class on Monday 12 January at 10am. This hands-on, 2-hour “Make Your Own Print” class is designed for kids, teens, families and beginners. It is perfect for anyone who loves fishing, food, art, or trying something completely new.

Best known as one of the Top 20 Restaurants in NSW, Pipit Restaurant also brings creativity beyond the plate. Ben Devlin practises Gyotaku, a Japanese method of creating fish prints using real fish as ink plates to transfer them onto rice paper. Historically used by fishermen to record their catches, Devlin uses the technique in the same way to celebrate sustainable seafood and the producers who influence Pipit’s seasonal and coastal menu.

The class is held in a private setting, limited to just 6 participants, offering rare access to Ben in the restaurant’s open-plan kitchen.

Parents and kids are encouraged to participate together, or parents may observe at no cost if attending with younger children.
