Perception Deception

Event: Perception Deception
Date: 25/02/2022 - 12/06/2022
Location: Ipswich Art Gallery, d’Arcy Doyle Place, Nicholas Street, Ipswich QLD

10am - 5pm daily.

Does your brain play tricks on you? Is my reality the same as yours?

The Ipswich Art Gallery is showcasing Questacon’s family-friendly Perception Deception exhibition. See it for free!

Explore how your sense of ‘reality’ is formed by your brain using sensory information — and how your senses can sometimes deceive you!

Perception Deception‘s exhibits consist of hands-on and multimedia experiences. Each uses perceptual tests and illusions to reveal how your brain edits, prioritises and even adds information about the things and people around you.

The exhibits cover themes of visual, audio, audio-language, tactile and social perception.

Do you see the same yellow as a friend? Do you feel a phantom hand? Can wire feel like velvet? Can you make up a memory? Which face seems more likeable?

Perception Deception investigates how your brain interprets and reports the information it receives from touch, sight and sound. ‘
