Resort-style family friendly hotel in the heart of Brisbane

Do you need a little lux for yourself while ensuring the kids are well catered for? We reviewed the Family Package at The Westin Brisbane to see if families can have it all from a hotel stay. And whether it lives up to its claim of being one of the most family friendly hotels in Brisbane.

The Westin is a luxury family friendly hotel in Brisbane city centre. It’s easily accessible to popular attractions such as the Botanic Gardens, QPAC, Howard Smith Wharves and Queen Street Mall.

With contemporary rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and the trademark Westin Heavenly® Beds, the hotel offers a 5-star luxury experience. It also goes out of its way to welcome and provide for families.

Our verdict on a family stay at The Westin Brisbane

Thanks to the half-price valet parking included in the Family Package, arrival and check-in were a breeze. And it wasn’t long before we were in our rooms testing out the fluffiness of the robes and slippers. Both passed with flying colours.

We had two adjoining rooms, so the kids had their room connected to ours with an internal door. This arrangement gave us plenty of space while also keeping us together.

The teepee with toys and books in the kids’ room was a lovely addition, and they spent several hours reading and playing while we put our feet up with an in-room coffee. They also thoroughly enjoyed filling out the Westin Family Travel Journal included in the Family Package. This thoughtful free activity book is filled with engaging activities for kids – and has plenty of pages for kids to jot down their adventures.

The hotel had everything you need; honestly, we didn’t leave the entire time.

It is the perfect blend of a completely kid-friendly hotel and an incredibly luxurious hotel. The staff went out of their way to make the kids feel welcome.

Family dining at The Westin Brisbane

Settimo – the hotel’s restaurant by celebrated chef Guy Grossi – is incredible. This Amalfi Coast-inspired dining experience was impeccable and a must-do for dinner.

Breakfast was a delicious all-you-can-eat buffet served in Settimo. This was the most impressive spread of pastries, hot food and continental options. And we all couldn’t help but go back for seconds!

Also available at The Westin is the Charles’ Bar. This relaxed bar/lounge is open all day, where you can get lunch, dinner and snacks. With a casual feel and fabulous menu, we loved every moment there.

Even if you aren’t staying at the Westin, you can still head into the Charles’ Bar for a scrumptious breakfast with your pooch. From 7 am – 1 pm daily, this aviation-inspired cafe and jazz bar serves up a special chef-created doggie Pup-Fast Breakfast. The Charles’ is the only restaurant in Brisbane where your pooch is treated to a human-like dining experience.

Things to do for kids at The Westin Brisbane

One thing the Westin is renowned for is the Nautilus Pool, home to Brisbane’s only swim-up bar. Though it sounds tailored to grown-ups, the pool is 100% kid-friendly! With a well-designed overhang, the pool is also semi-shaded while still being outdoors. This meant we could stay for hours, and the kids could play without worrying about the sun.

Of course, we tested out the swim-up bar and can attest that it is as fabulous as it sounds!

In addition to the swim-up bar for the grown-ups, the Westin also provided inflatables to keep the kids entertained.

The Westin Club Lounge was another excellent addition to a family stay at The Westin Brisbane. This exclusive lounge offers complimentary breakfast, evening drinks and canapés, and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day. It is quieter and feels private but is also kid-friendly.

There is even a gym if you don’t want to miss out on your daily workout. We must admit, we were too busy relaxing to spend any time there, but it had everything you could want!

The most heavenly part of our stay was the signature massage at Heavenly® Spa—honestly, one of the best massages we’ve ever had. We highly recommend treating yourself to a spa experience during your stay.

All in all, The Westin was a fabulous balance of luxury, amazing food, and family-friendly services, and we can’t wait to return!
