Tired of the 3 pm slump? A talented Sunshine Coast nutritionist has launched a delicious range of pantry kits packed with superfoods, helping tired parents across the coast reset their diet and health. Our culinary-challenged editor tested one for a week, here is her experience.
Can a pantry kit cure my fear of quinoa?
Let’s be completely honest: my two ultimate downfalls when it comes to healthy eating are mindless snacking and sheer decision fatigue. I am busy. Exceptionally busy. Like most time-poor parents, my default mode when the 3 pm hunger strikes is to reach straight for the biscuit tin. A couple of TimTams, a piece of toast, or the odd tin of tuna — it is quick, easy, and tragically lacking in anything green.
Add to that a couple of very fussy kids who limit our dinners to a strict rotation of pasta, rice, and fishfingers, and my pantry had become a nutritionist’s worst nightmare. It was permanently stocked with processed sauces, chips, and quick fixes. I had absolutely zero time, or inclination, to hunt down complicated recipes online, let alone spend an hour tracking down obscure health foods at the supermarket.
So, when I was given the chance to test-run the new Healthy4Living 5-Day Pantry Kit, I felt a double-edged sword of emotion: I was a little bit intimidated, but incredibly eager to finally turn my pantry habits around.

The perfect healthy middle ground
What I instantly loved about this kit is that it sits in the middle ground of meal prep. It isn’t a box of pre-packaged frozen microwave meals. But it isn’t an overwhelming shift that is impossible to follow.
Healthy4Living does all the heavy lifting by providing the pantry basics, but these aren’t your average supermarket staples. Every single day comes with its own perfectly portioned custom-blended superfood mixes and recipes, bursting with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The kits pack in everything from turmeric, spirulina, chlorella, and super green or longevity powders, to chia seeds, hemp seeds, activated nuts, cacao, seaweed, goji berries, maca, camu, and speciality teas.
You get all the health benefits of these premium ingredients without having to buy 15 different expensive packets that will just sit in your cupboard. You get the convenience of having the hard work done for you, but you actually learn how to rustle up a genuinely nutritious, fresh meal in the process.

Breaking the biscuit habit with easy alternatives
I’ve tried health programmes before, but I’ve always ended up hungry because the portions were tiny. I have a voracious appetite, so I was thrilled to find that the snacks and meals in this kit left me feeling full and satisfied every day.
As the days progressed, I found myself actually getting excited about healthy food and feeling more confident in the kitchen. Healthy eating has always been one of those grey areas where I look for something green and pray I’ve made a good choice (usually I haven’t!).
But because I knew it was properly planned out yet I made it myself… I really felt good about the food I was eating. Very novel experience for me!
One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was learning how to make a salad that actually filled me up and tasted amazing. You’d think this would be common knowledge, but my traditional English roots definitely never taught me the skill of crafting an exciting, satisfying salad!

Another absolute hero of the week was the beet and hummus dip. My usual afternoon biscuit routine was happily replaced with a yummy dip with crackers and veggie sticks. It filled me up and satisfied my cravings far more than my usual tim-tam routine.
Then, of course, there was the pomegranate drink. I am terrible for grabbing a can of soft drink from the fridge or mindlessly brewing my fifth cup of sugary, milky tea of the day. Having a massive jug of this detox drink prepped and ready to sip all day was a total game-changer. It completely stopped my mindless snacking because my hydration was sorted. Even better? It has a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon, meaning it tastes incredible served warm, making it the perfect tea or coffee replacement.

The final verdict
At the end of the five days, the results spoke for themselves. I hadn’t had to think about my food choices all week, my body felt significantly better, and I had even dropped a kg. More importantly, it has led to a major shift in my eating habits toward healthy things I actually prefer and has proven that eating well doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the kitchen.
