For the twelfth year running, Australia Zoo has been recognised as an accredited Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. This important accreditation means that the Zoo can provide the support system and culture that allows women to return to work when it suits them and their families.
The policy means that Australia Zoo provides facilities for mothers to breastfeed their children or express milk during working hours.
Erina Kilmore Sales Director at Australia Zoo, who is expecting a baby in the coming weeks, said, “As a new mum, all the unknowns are daunting so it’s reassuring to know I can return to work when it suits me and my family.”
“My husband and I plan for me to return to work after three months. With the flexibility and understanding that Australia Zoo offers, I am comfortable returning to the job I love sooner than I would have imagined possible.”
“I know Australia Zoo will be behind me with any decisions that I do make in the coming months and years. So that I can balance my career and my new role as mother.”
By providing flexible workplace options, a family-orientated work environment and a breastfeeding policy with facilities for mothers to breastfeed their children or express milk during working hours, it allows Australia Zoo to retain the experienced and dedicated workforce it has become known for.
