Play On! sports vouchers return with $200 for QLD kids

The next round of QLD Play On! Sports Vouchers opens Monday 27 July, giving families up to $200 per child to help cover winter or summer sport fees!

With the cost of living still putting the squeeze on household budgets, keeping the kids enrolled in their favourite weekend sports can be a tough stretch for many families. Luckily, some welcome relief is on the horizon for parents right across the Sunshine State.

Applications for the next round of the popular Play On! Sports Vouchers are officially set to open on Monday, 27 July 2026.

Each voucher is valued at up to $200 per eligible child aged between 5 and 17, giving families a much-needed boost to help cover club membership, registration, and participation costs.

Over 293,000 QLD kids are already active

The announcement comes as impressive new figures showcase just how much the program has benefited local communities in its first year. More than 293,800 Queensland children received a voucher over the past 12 months, helping break down financial barriers and encouraging healthy, active lifestyles.

So, what are Queensland kids actually playing? According to the latest data, team sports are leading the charge, with the three most popular activities being:

  • Soccer: 52,529 young players
  • Rugby League: 33,972 young players
  • Netball: 27,369 young players

More than 3,750 sporting clubs across Queensland are now registered to accept the vouchers, making it easier than ever for parents to find a local team nearby.

Boosting inclusivity and support for girls in sport

Beyond easing the pressure on parents’ wallets, the initiative has driven a massive win for inclusivity across Queensland grounds. Nearly 2,500 participating clubs now offer dedicated disability programs.

In the past year alone:

  • 13,917 children and young people with a disability received a voucher—a huge 33% increase compared to previous voucher initiatives.
  • 129,050 girls benefited from a voucher, representing a 30% jump in female sports participation.

Minister for Sport and Racing Tim Mander highlighted that the government has locked in $62.5 million each year for the next four years to ensure families can count on this support into the future.

How parents can get ready to apply

Whether your little one is eager to kick off a brand-new summer sport or stay involved in winter competitions, parents can choose how and when to use their voucher.

Dedicated allocations remain set aside specifically for children living with a disability, as well as kids residing in regional and remote areas.
