In September 2023, Ausfunk Cheerleading & Dance from the Sunshine Coast took a team of 11 local Cheerleading Athletes to New Zealand. The event producers of this New Zealand event, Cheerbrandz are the leaders in delivering a great competition and providing an experience of a lifetime for athletes.
The team actively fundraised for a number of months, sourcing local sponsors, raffle prize donations and ran a number of sausage sizzles to help with the funding of the trip. These dedicated athletes range in age from 13 to 16 and trained a number of times a week for their regular cheer and dance teams, along with training for the New Zealand competition.
All their hard work well and truly paid off when they won GOLD in Auckland, performing an absolutely stunning routine choreographed by their coach Jada Green. Not only did they win Gold but also were the runners-up to be the Grand Champions (highest scoring team in their level).
Ausfunk Cheer & Dance is a 25-year family business that runs cheer, dance and tumble for athletes on the Sunshine Coast. Their aim is to create an inclusive safe environment for athletes to learn skills in the industry but also to build friendships and community. They are respected in the industry as elite competitors.
