After months of anticipation, Coolum families can finally get excited — the long-awaited Coolum pump track is officially on its way.
Sunshine Coast Council has confirmed works will begin at Lions and Norrie Job Park on David Low Way. Landscaping is underway, and once landscaping is complete and the final design is approved, pump track construction will begin. The upgraded park, including the new pump track, is expected to open to the community by late September.
First flagged in plans last year, the pump track has been high on the wish list for local families. Now the project is rolling into its next phase, with a specialist contractor engaged to finalise the design and deliver the build.

Designed for riders of all ages, the track will feature a looping course of smooth bumps, rollers and turns. Instead of pedalling, riders generate speed by “pumping” their bodies up and down — making it a fun and accessible activity for bikes, scooters and skateboards alike.
Importantly, the design allows riders of different ages and skill levels to use the track at the same time, creating a shared space for families and friends to ride together.
Community bringing the new Coolum pump track to life
Sunshine Coast Council Division 9 Councillor Maria Suarez said strong community support had helped bring the project to life.
“Our community told us loud and clear that they wanted a pump track that delivered excitement, challenge and fun, and it’s great to see construction now about to begin,” Cr Suarez said.
Community feedback has also helped shape the design, with locals calling for features such as taller jumps, flowing lines and coastal-inspired elements.

Local kids will be pumped for the new Coolum pump track
The pump track forms part of broader park upgrades, including a new barbecue shelter, improved pathways, upgraded fitness equipment and additional shade. These elements are all designed to better connect the space and encourage active outdoor play.
Once complete, the new track is expected to inject fresh energy into the already popular park. This exciting development gives families another reason to get outdoors and enjoy everything Coolum has to offer.
