The Coast Life Families Baby & Child Health service is a collaboration between Jess Kumar, Lactation Consultant and Child Health Nurse and Jane Langford, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
Bringing their skills and experience together, this unique service provides:
- 1, 4 & 6 week baby checks in association with Coast Life Midwifery, as well as providing for all families on the Sunshine Coast.
- 12 month child health packages including ongoing growth and development checks.
- Home visits available.
- Lactation consultant appointments.
- Alternative, individualised and specialised ongoing care eg. following pre-term birth, surgery, medical conditions, jaundice, feeding difficulties, poor weight gain, low birth weight.
- Ability to address child health concerns eg. jaundice, eczema, cow’s milk protein intolerance, constipation.
- Ability to address parental concerns eg. speech screening and development assessments.
- Medical/ Allied Health referrals as required.
- Investigative & diagnostic capabilities eg. blood test for jaundice screens, newborn screen tests, hip ultrasounds for risk of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip.
- Scheduled/ Individualised vaccine programs.
- Frenotomy (tongue tie release) including full developmental & feeding assessment by a Lactation Consultant.
- Continuity, family-centred care, consistent follow-up, intense support as required with out of hours phone support.
- Facilities for drop in baby weight checks and advice.

Sleep & Settling Support available in their on-site sleep cottage or home visits.

Mothers & Babies groups – 8 week terms for parents and babies of all ages to learn and connect.
