A new approach to family portraits for the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is home to a new photography business that aims to capture families’ special moments and family portraits in a fun and edgy way.

Tanya Lea’s journey from an amateur photographer to a business owner began several years ago.

“I started getting serious about photography in 2021 when I lived in WA for a short time. My camera was practically glued to me,” says Tanya.

Tanya officially launched her photography business this year due to increasing demand from friends and referrals. “I’ve covered everything from portraits and events to interiors and real estate,” she notes.

Her specialty lies in family portraits. “I really enjoy capturing family portraiture as I love to see the interactions of people and family—the warm, intimate and familiar. I’ll capture those moments for my clients to treasure. They make for the best imagery,” Tanya explains.

Tanya’s approach to photography is anything but standard. “I don’t just point and shoot. If you choose me for a photoshoot, expect unique, fun, and sometimes edgy photos. I have a creative eye and want everyone to enjoy the experience.”

Looking ahead, Tanya aims to continue growing her businesses within the Sunshine Coast community, focusing on local families. “I aim to keep offering high-quality, affordable photography for families here on the Sunshine Coast.”

When preparing for a photo shoot, her advice to families is simple: “Come as your carefree selves. Let the kids play. Laugh. Take the hour to be together and enjoy each other. I will capture these moments and suspend them in time.”

Tanya also plans to expand her horizons. “I have an active imagination and so many ideas. I would love to produce creative portraits for clients in the future.”
